Canine Parvo Virus (( Simply ))

It is a Highly contagious disease which is characterized by :


1- Bloody diarrhea with bad odor and contain mucous .
2- Vomition.
3- High temperature (41.5 ْC )
4- Severe emaciation and dehydration .

Treatment :

1- Acid base balance .
due to severe dehydration and massive loss of potassium ( K ) .
by I/V injection by :
Nacl  9% .or Lactate ringer .
Glucose .
Panamine G .
2- Antibiotic administration with 3rd generation cephalosporin or 4th generation .
as Cefobid / Ceftriaxone / Tavanic / Levanic / Megamox (1 gm) I/M or I/V Twice daily for 
5 days.
3- Acyclovir Tablets as antiviral .
4- Anti emetic Injection as Primperan I/M 0.5cm Twice daily .
5- Vitamin B12 complex as Neurobion I/M injection once daily.

Prevention and control :


By Vaccination with 2 doses at least as the following regime :
  •  The First dose by the age of 6 weeks .
  •  Booster dose after 2 weeks .
  •  After the booster dose , we vaccinate against Parvo annually .

Treatment of Canine Parvo Enteritis is Very Complicated Process and need patience from the owner .
